Caledon East is a great area for those who like to walk, bike, hike, cross-country ski, and enjoy the outdoors. Not only is Pathways itself full of pathways throughout the community, there are also major trails going through Caledon East that offer countless recreational opportunities for families.
Pathways is located at the NE corner of Old Church Rd and Innis Lake Rd, so we are right across the street from the Trans Canada Trail (aka Caledon Trailway), the world’s longest network of trails (when completed, the Trail will stretch 22,000 km from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean).
Wthin the Town of Caledon, there are over 260 kms of publicly accessible trails, including 105 kms of the Bruce Trail. The Town of Caledon currently owns and maintains the 36 kms of the Caledon Trailway, and a 1 km portion of the Etobicoke Creek Trail.
The Caledon Trails map gives a colourful overview of trails and pathways in the area. There are many trails within Caledon including the Humber Valley Heritage Trail, Oak Ridges Trail and Elora-Cataract Trail.
Along the Caledon Trailway and Etobicoke Creek Trail, you may hike, cross-country ski or ride horseback, while the majority of trails within the Town of Caledon are designated as ‘hiking only.’ Why not bring your dog for a walk? They love to frolic in the snow.
